Data Rack Layout

Lay out the racks in a comms room, from 6RU to 48RU each: add patch panels, cable management, switches, routers, recorders, servers, UPS, power rails and shelves, label each one and drag it into place. See every rack side by side, and download a schedule for each rack as an Excel workbook, or save a picture of the room.

How it works

Rack units (RU) are 44.45 mm and count from the bottom of the rack, as printed on the rails, so U1 is the lowest. Each kind of equipment starts at its usual height (a 24-port patch panel or switch 1RU, a recorder or UPS 2RU) and you can change it to match the datasheet. New equipment goes into the highest free space; nothing can overlap, and the rack can only shrink while everything still fits. The schedule lists every unit top to bottom, with the free space, so you can see what is left for growth.
