Nx Witness

Nx Witness, made by Network Optix, takes a distinctive approach to VMS resilience: rather than a single recording server with a separate failover appliance, every server in an Nx Witness system continuously syncs configuration and user data with its peers. If a server goes offline, its cameras are automatically picked up by the remaining servers and connected clients reconnect without manual intervention — useful on multi-building or multi-server sites where uptime matters and dedicated failover hardware isn't budgeted.

The system auto-discovers the large majority of IP cameras on the market using ONVIF plus native manufacturer SDKs, and can write video to local disks, NAS, SAN/iSCSI or cloud storage as needed. For integrators, the appeal is largely operational: simpler scaling of server capacity, less proprietary lock-in on cameras, and reduced support overhead from self-healing multi-server behaviour.
