Hikvision is the largest video surveillance manufacturer globally by revenue, shipping an extremely broad catalogue spanning entry-level analog and HD-IP cameras through to thermal imaging, AI-powered facial recognition and full VMS software, alongside adjacent access control, intercom and alarm ranges. Since 2022 the company has repositioned itself as an "AIoT" business, treating video as one input into broader analytics rather than the sole product.

For integrators, the scale of Hikvision's range and channel support makes it a fast, low-friction option for standard commercial jobs, and its price-to-feature ratio is a frequent reason it's specified on cost-sensitive projects. One caveat worth knowing: Hikvision equipment is subject to US federal procurement restrictions on national-security grounds, which doesn't bar its use in Australia but is worth checking against a given client's own procurement policy on government or critical-infrastructure work.
